2015 is off to a great start. We got this lovely update from Skip Connett and Erin Flynn, Farmers for Green Gate Farm, location for our 2014 Tour beneficiary Permablitz for New Farm Institute, held in cooperation with the Austin Permaculture Guild.
“Just wanted to share this photo of the swale and berm as it looked today after two inches of rain. There was hardly any water down on the road. And as you can see, the entire hill has greened up – the first time it has not been bare in three years. I just love the contoured line of the swale — reminds me of an Andy Goldsworthy art installation. All the trees are doing well and I’ve planted about 10 more. Cover crops have come up, too. This was by far the bed thing that happened to the river farm in 2014.”
