The Funky Chicken Coop Tour is just days away! This Saturday, March 26th, coops all over Austin will be open to inspire, delight and surprise hundreds of visitors just like you. Here’s all the info you need for a spectacular Coop Tour Day!
Get Your Tickets
Buy them online or in person from select Tour Sponsors Callahan’s General Store, Buck Moore Feed and Pet Supply, and Wheatsville Co-op. Tickets cost $10 per adult. Kids 12 and under are free. All online ticket purchases in advance of Tour Day will be entered on tour day into a raffle to win a free deluxe coop courtesy of Happy Hen Treats.
Personalize Your Tour
The tour starts at 10am and ends at 4pm, and takes place rain or shine. You get to choose where your tour begins and which order you visit the coops! Start by downloading our printable map. There is no official Tour Headquarters this year, so you will receive your tour wristband whichever coop your choose to visit first! You are welcome to visit as many of the Tour Coops as you like in whatever order works best for you- just keep in mind that all Tour locations will close promptly at 4pm.
Claim Your Wristband(s)
Begin by visiting any coop on the map any time between 10am and 4pm on March 26th. Present your ticket or your printed/electronic Brown Paper Tickets receipt to a Tour Volunteer at your first coop. Exchange your ticket(s) for wristbands. Simply show your wristband at each subsequent Tour stop to enter the site. Did you forget to buy tickets in advance? No problem! You can purchase tickets the day of the tour through our website or from Tour Sponsors Callahan’s General Store, Buck Moore Feed and Pet Supply, or Wheatsville Co-op. Only tickets purchased before Tour Day will be automatically entered into the Deluxe Coop Raffle on Tour Day. No cash will be accepted at Tour stops, so please plan accordingly.
Prepare for a Day Outside
The Coop Tour goes on Rain or Shine! Be sure to bring water, sun or rain protection, snacks, and appropriate clothing for every member of your tour group. There will be no water, restroom facilities or food provided on the tour. If you start to fade after a busy morning visiting coops, take a break! You can always hop back on the tour any time until 4pm.
Be a Great Guest- Clean Your Feet and Leave Pets at Home
Each Tour site will be equipped with foot baths or sprays to ensure biosecurity and safety for the birds whose homes we are visiting. Volunteers will be on hand at each location to help you properly disinfect your shoes when entering coop areas. Closed-toed shoes are recommended. We respectfully request that you leave your own chickens at home as well as dogs, cats, goats, gerbils and any other pets. Please do not smoke at any Tour locations. Thank you in advance for treating the neighborhoods and homes on the Tour with the respect that you would expect at your own. Thanks for doing your part to keep Austin’s poultry safe and healthy!
More Chances to Win a Deluxe Coop!
Everyone who buys a ticket online before Tour Day will be entered automatically on Tour Day into the raffle for this spectacular Deluxe Coop courtesy of Happy Hen Treats. If you want even more chances to win, drop by Buck Moore Feed and Pet Supply between now and Tour Day to purchase additional raffle tickets for $5 each (5 for $20). All raffle proceeds go to support the Urban Poultry Association of Texas, Inc., the Coop Tour’s parent organization. This mobile coop is just the right size for a small backyard flock of 3-5 chickens and has a host of special features including: a built-in nest box, wheels for easy transport around the yard, an easy access door for handy egg collection, and steel and wood construction.
